Saturday, July 28, 2001. Departure from Tokyo at 14:35. Arrival at BWI at 18:48 (NW-1080) from Minneapolis. Pickup by Burdnells. Youth Night Out (ages 10 through 19 years), at Reed Hall, ECCTK, 7 PM through 11 PM. Chaperones: Queenesther Brown, John Barkon, Meryl Shechter, Bernice Wilson, Blanche Curran, Tristan Alexander, Nathan McNichol, Lurlene McNichol, Leotha Bailey, Donald Hooper, Ed Hooper, Bea Hooper, Barbara Moore, Vince Moore. The girls were wide awake and stayed until closing time! Overnight at Burdnells.

Sunday, July 29, 2001. Visitors attended the ECCTK service, where they were introduced by the Rev. Linda Fernandez during the service. (Jean Ogawa, a long-time friend of ECCTK, needed no introduction!) Sermon: how to pray (Luke 10:38-42). Afterwards, over cookies and punch, parishioners greeted our guests. Bilingual nametags supplied by the Moores, with email assistance from the Uchigasakis for difficult Japanese (Kanji) names.
Sunday afternoon: Lunch, shopping, supper, and bowling with the Moores. Overnight at Burdnells.

Monday, July 30, 2001. Burdnells, Jean Kiyoe OGAWA (小川 ジーン・清恵). Asami GOTO (後藤 麻美), Haruka KANEKI (金木 悠). and the Rev. Linda Fernandez, and other Fernandez family members. Tour of Washington, DC, including: U. S. National Air and Space Museum; U. S. Natural History Museum; Washington National Cathedral; Washington National Mall; Abraham Lincoln Memorial; Vietnam War Memorial; and a tram and bus tour. Overnight at Burdnells.

Tuesday, July 31, 2001. Burdnells take the visitors to Claggett, Frederick, MD, where a church-oriented youth program is in progress. Thea Burdnell is a counselor at the program. Overnight at Burdnells.

Wednesday, August 1, 2001. Visit to Diocese of Maryland Diocesan Center with Rev. Fernandez. Visit to ECCK-sponsored Extended Child Care Program (ECCP). Traditional Cuban Dinner at Fernandez's, with a Maryland twist: Steamed Hard-shell Crabs, supplied by the Moores. Overnight at Gooden's.

Thursday, August 2, 2001. Carol Gooden visitors to Six Flags Amusement Park. In case of rain, Thursday and Friday programs will be reversed. Overnight at Gooden's.

Friday, August 3, 2001. Carol Gooden takes visitors to Goddard Space Center. Carol's brother, a NASA engineer, gives the visitors a personal introduction to the center. They are also able to purchase NASA souvenirs. Overnight at Gooden's.

Saturday, August 4, 2001. Burdnells take the visitors to Inner Harbor, Baltimore, MD. Overnight at Gooden's.

Sunday, August 5, 2001. after services at ECCTK, Church Pot Luck lunch, with an international motif. Thea and Jackie Burdnell return from Claggett. Overnight at Burdnells.

Monday, August 6, 2001. Departure Day. Burdnells drive guests to to BWI airport, Leave BWI at 12:45 (NW-337) to Detroit. Arrive Tokyo at 17:20 on August 7, 2001.
